EDLs at St Leonard’s West Marina

15th August 2014 and no less than eight EDLs are ‘on shed’ at St Leonard’s (SLEO)!

73 202 was finished into Southern livery at St Leonard’s West Marina.
Here it is simply receiving attention in the company of 73 128.

Out in the yard alongside 171 729 sits 73 109
with 73 119, 73 207 & 73 213 in rear.

To the right is 73 141 and 73 212.

73 207 and 73 119 sit alongside 171 729.
Unit 729 is reputed to be the fastest of the 2-car
sets with unit 730 possibly the least reliable.

To the right of 73 109 (with 73 119, 73 207 & 73 213 in rear) is
73 141 ‘Charlotte’ and 73 212; two class 66s sit beyond this pair.

The four-cylinder EDLs have a distinctive exhaust note;
mainly due to their silencer. Here is a brand new example.

Finally, tucked behind 73 141 ‘Charlotte’ and almost inaccessible to the photographer
were the two Berkshire motor coaches – blue liveried 1127 being just visible.
